    Unhappy Fake notes

I was confronted with the news that CBN "claims" that N50 naira notes with serial number digits of six are fake while those with seven are real but i couldn't not remember seeing any warnings on this on TV.

Again I noted that N20 naira notes have the same number characteristics i.e. six digits and seven digits; DOES this make them fake too? I then called a friend who works in a bank and asked what was going on but was told that CBN had given no such alert to the presence of "FAKE N50 NOTES". Now who is peddling this piece of news.

I reside in Aba and was told this is unique to Aba as usual.

I agree with Daniella. The bankers in the community should enlighten us. On my side of Nigeria, Dupers are bringing loads of fake N500 notes and purchasing grains and assorted farm produce from poor subsistence farmers on market days in rural areas. Most of these farmers take a part of their produce and sell to be able to buy new farm implements or pay debts, or buy fertilizer, or other necessities of life. They usually get a rude shock when they present the fake money which usually ended in suicide or paralysis- FOR NO FAULT OF THEIRS. At times I simply wonder where it will all end.
