In keeping with its avowed policy of continually rewarding outstanding staff, the difficult business operating terrain forced on organizations by the effects of the global financial meltdown notwithstanding, Standard Alliance Insurance Plc, one of the nation’s foremost general underwriters, has released its first phase list of its deserving staff who have been promoted to management positions with effect from January, 2011.
A release signed by the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Nelson Egboboh, said that Messrs. Sunday Ojo and Chibuzor Victor have been elevated to the position of Deputy General Managers from their earlier Assistant General Managers’ rank while Messrs. Dayo Okemakinde, formerly a Principal Manager and Ekundayo Mobayo, a Senior Manager before now have been promoted Assistant General Manager and Principal Manager respectively.
Whereas Messrs. Akanni Oladele, Fasanmi Jide and Koko Adewale got the Senior Managers’ promotions from their initial Managers’ positions, Mr. Haruna Mohammed Baba of the company’s Abuja Office was promoted a Manager from
his Deputy Manager’s office which he occupied before now.
Mr. Sunday Ojo who currently heads the company’s Finance and Investments section is a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria; Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Taxation and member, Nigerian Institute of Management. He holds Yaba College of Technology’s 1983 HND in Accountancy.
He joined SA Insurance Plc from Cornerstone Insurance Plc where he was Group Head, Finance and Asset Management. He had also worked at different times with Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, UAC Plc, Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Sina Babatunde & Co. (Chartered Accountants), NEM Insurance Plc and IGI.
He is a member of The Apapa and Ikoyi Clubs.
Mr. Chibuzor Victor who heads the company’s Northern operations is a graduate of Statistics/Economics from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He had worked variously with Valid Assurance Company Ltd; British American Insurance Company Plc, Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Fortune Assurance Company Ltd and
Metropolitan General Insurance Company Ltd.
Victor, a member of Ikoyi Club, left Metropolitan General to start Valid Trust Insurance Brokers Ltd in 2005 from where he joined the management team of SA Insurance Plc as an Assistant General Manager.
He is an Associate member of both the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers.
Dayo Okemakinde, an associate of CIIN with unquestionable knowledge in risk underwriting, holds Ibadan Polytechnic’s 1995 HND in Insurance as well as a 2002 MBA from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He currently anchors the company’s strategic functions of underwriting, survey, re-insurance and claims.
