The First Bank of Nigeria Plc has commissioned a new branch at Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, bringing its network of branches across the country to 600.

Speaking at the occasion, Group Head, Public Sector First Bank in charge of Nasarawa, Plateau and Bauchi states, Alhaji Sani Bala Tanko, said with the opening of the branch, the bank now has 600 branches across the country.

According to the bank representative, 12 of the branches are in Plateau State while the bank has over 1.3 million shareholders across several countries with customer base of over 504 million despite the economic meltdown.

He said: “The choice of Langtang is strategic as over the years, First Bank strive to bring banking services to the door step of its esteemed customers. Our presence in Langtang and very soon in Shendam respectively, is deliberate in order to extend financial services and assistance to the teeming traders.”



He said two more branches in Pankshin and Bokkos local governments were “on the card” to encourage the culture of banking in the state and to partner with government, small and medium scale enterprise and individuals in the economic development of the state and the country generally.

Alhaji Tanko however called on farmers in the area to make use of the bank services, adding that First Bank was the greatest provider of agricultural loan/facility in the country, with effort to enhance local mechanized agricultural practices in the country and boost food supply, reduce hunger and complement government efforts.

The Area Operations Manager Jos/ Makurdi, Mr. A.O. Abubakar assured customers that the door of the bank will always be opened ,urging them to make use of alternative channels of transaction such as the newly introduced “First Mobile” which allowed transaction from the comfort of one’s home.

The Phonzi Tarok, General Domkat Bali who was represented by Galadiman Langtang, Chief Joseph Loyi said the opening of the branch was a thing of joy for the entire Tarok nation, stressing that it will ease a lot of business transaction challenges.
