The Skye Bank of Nigeria, one of the largest banks in that country with over 270 branches and with a presence in five African countries including Sierra Leone, has got a new Managing Director posted to Sierra Leone. The new Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer is called Lawrence Okate and has been charged with the responsibility to take over the mantle of stewardship of the bank that is set to make a difference in the banking landscape of Sierra Leone.



The new youthful Managing Director reportedly resumed duty few days ago and from his appearance and enthusiasm, he could be described as a seasoned banker with wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of Banking, Finance and Administration. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Okate had served as Regional Manager in charge of Surulere and Yaba branches of Skye Bank in Lagos, Nigeria and has also worked as a Business Development Manager in several branches in Nigeria and other capacities.



He has been instrumental in the turning around of several branches both in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole. He did his compulsory one year National Youth Service program with the Central Bank of Nigeria and had a stint with the United Bank for Africa and gave himself up to the profession at the Zenith Bank Plc.



He has attended several training programs in Core Credit, Marketing, Treasury, International Operations and Management. Some of these trainings were attended in the Pan African University at the Lagos Business School in Nigeria. Mr. Okate holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and also a Masters Degree in Managerial Psychology from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State in Nigeria.
