The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] has re-arraigned the former Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency [REA], Engineer Samuel Gekpe and five other officials of the agency for alleged embezzlement of funds belonging to the agency.
The six accused persons who were arraigned on a 65-count amended charge preferred against them by the anti-graft agency pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
While adjourning the matter to the 3rd, 4thand 5th of November for definite hearing, Justice Adebukola Banjoko warned counsels not to come up with excuses as she promised accelerated hearing of the criminal suit.
Justice Banjoko however ordered that the accused persons should continue to enjoy the bail earlier granted by the court.
The other accused persons who are being tried for alleged six billion Naira fraud are Dr. Abdullahi Aliyu, Simon Nanle, Engineer Lawrence Orekoya, Abdulsamad Jahun and Kayode Oyedeji.
