The Federal Government has been asked to merge the Independent and Corrupt Practices Commission ( ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) to avoid duplicating the functions of the two anti graft agencies.

Chairman of the House committee on judiciary Honourable Henry Dickson made the call during a visit of the committee to the Attorney General of the Federation Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke at the ministry of justice in Abuja.

He said, the two anti-graft agencies when merged will be more effective in combating corruption and financial crimes in the country.

He also called for the establishment of state police adding that the appointment of the Inspector General of Police should not be left solely with the president.

The purpose of the visit,according to honourable Dickson is to monitor the implementation of the ministry's budget for 2010.
