Former presidential spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati, has been offered administrative bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

A source within the commission told Channels Television on Thursday evening that the former spokesman was offered bail on the conditions that he submit his travelling passport and provide a surety who must be a top civil servant.

But it is not clear whether the detained journalist would be able to meet the bail conditions immediately.

Dr Abati, a newspaper columnist and spokesman to former President Jonathan was arrested on Monday for what has been speculated to be in connection with the ongoing probe of the mismanagement of fund meant for arms by the detained former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki.
