Is Akon Dead - Solved?, The answer is simple and real NO.

But the fact is Akon and Missy Elliott were battling fake death reports simultaneously yesterday. Neither has died, with Missy even confirming in a news statement Sunday that she is alive. The source of the fake Akon and Missy Elliott reports appears to be the same source that has claimed Omarion, Lil Wayne, Denzel Washington, and Will Smith all dead this week.

While Missy’s fake death reprots surfaced online hours ago, Akon’s fake reports are far more active yesterday afternoon.

For three years, fake celebrity death reports have most often sprung up on Sunday afternoons. But in recent months, the surge of fake death reports have been fueled by cunning website owners their trickery with social networking skills.

The most common exemplar is the use of one of several prescribed, pre-written fake death reports. The subjects are usually crashes or falls. In the case of falls, the reports claim the celebrity has fallen during a hike. In the case of crashes, the reports use everything from snowboarding to car crashes.

The website owner then utilizes one of several locations for their fake story. Zermatt, Route 80, and the New Zealand Kauri Cliffs are among the most popular. But recently, the addition of a new location prompted far more belief by fans.

Earlier this month, the author listed Tiger Woods dead in the Dominican Republic. It was a brand new location and a new cause of death. The fake death report read “Pro golfer Tiger Woods was found unresponsive in his luxury vacation rental house near the Roko Ki golf resort in the Dominican Republic earlier today”. The fabricated report added that Woods “later [was] pronounced dead from what appears to be natural causes.”

Because the report digressed from the larger-than-life crash stories, and simply used a tropical location and natural causes, many fans fell for the story.

While “Roko Ki” might be far more believable that Zermatt, fans ultimately are furious by any fake death report.
