Ousted Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan has been declared winner of the re-run governorship election held in the state. The PDP represented by Dr. Uduaghan won in 14 out of the 25 Local Government Areas in the state while the Democratic Peoples’ Party which had Chief Great Ogboru as its candidate won in 11 Local Government Areas. Dr. Uduaghan was returned after the Independent National Electoral Commission certified that he won with the highest number of votes cast and he also did in not less than two thirds of the local governments with 275, 253 votes against Ogborus 138, 258 votes. Incidents of ballot box snatching were reported in some wards and in some places, there were sporadic shootings to scare voters before the boxes were allegedly snatched. The DPP candidate, Great Ogboru has alleged that the election was fraught with lots of malpractices. He led a number of his supporters to the INEC office where he addressed journalists.
