Politicians from different parties in Oyo State on Tuesday besieged the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ibadan calling for a thorough probe of the four suspects, including an INEC top official arrested with the Commission's Direct Data Capturing (DDC) machines in a hotel room.
Similarly, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja's Campaign Organization of Accord Party fingered a staff in the Due Process office of the Oyo State Government as one of the culprits.
A press conference scheduled to be addressed at the INEC state headquarters at Agodi, Ibadan by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Ayo Adakeja, was hurriedly cancelled as newsmen were simply told that they would be invited at a later date. At a crowded press conference addressed by the Director General of Campaign Organization of Accord Party, Hon. Adeolu Adeleke, the party maintained that despite the hiccups, it still had confidence in the Chairman of INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega.
Accord Party in Oyo State declared, however, that it was disappointed by the emotional pronouncement of the INEC Chairman when he said that the recovered DDC machine had nothing to do with the security of the election and at the same time telling the public that a panel has been set up on the matter.
While reiterating that the prime suspect in the crime was working closely in tandem with the State Governor's office, Adeleke posited that "only a fool would absolve the state government from the criminal act."
Hon. Adeleke declared: "We have it on good authority and we stand by it too that a staff in the Due Process department of the state
