Final Update : Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of the People Democratic party (PDP) has been officially declared by INEC Nigeria, as winner of Rivers State Governorship election .

Rivers State Governorship Election Result : From Rivers came reports that PDP’s Governor Rotimi Amaechi recorded an early lead last night as results trickled in from numerous polling units in some parts of Port Harcourt, the state capital. His lead was mostly caused by the splitting of votes by his two main challengers, former governor Celestine Omehia of APGA and ex-transport minister Dr Abiye Sekibo of the ACN, and candidate.
Results from Universal Primary education school in Sangana, one of the big centres in ward 4 with 13 polling zones showed that Amaechi’s PDP won in most of the units and was trailed by Omehia’s APGA while Sekibo’s ACN followed. In unit 26 of that ward, Amaechi got 71 votes; Omehia-56 and Sekibo-20; in unit 30, Amaechi got 52 votes, Omehia-41 and Sekibo-10. In unit 18, Amaechi got 50 votes, Omehia-33 and Sekibo-08. In unit 21, Amaechi got 90 votes, Omehia-70 votes and Sekibo-22 votes.
In unit 29, Amaechi got 56 votes, Omehia-47 and Sekibo-16. In unit 22, Amaechi also led with 66 votes, Omehia-34 and Sekibo-13. In unit 27, Amaechi also got 62 votes, Omehia-52 and Sekibo-20. In unit 28, Amaechi secured 81 votes, Omehia-36 and Sekibo-23. In unit 24, Amaechi also led with 78 votes, Omehia-62 and Sekibo-14.
In unit 20, Amaechi equally led with 94 votes, Omehia-64 and Sekibo-19. Omehia however won units 19 and 25 with 65 and 70 votes respectively while Amaechi followed with 51 and 64 votes while Sekibo went away with 13 votes in each of the two units.
