Final Update : Godswill Akpabio of the People Democratic party (PDP) has been officially declared by INEC Nigeria as winner of Akwa Ibom State Governorship election and there by is now the Governor Elect.

The incubent Governor Godswill Akpabio (PDP) is leading in the polls result that is trickling in.

Akwa Ibom State Radio: Gov. results collation completed in 24 out of 31 Local Govt. Areas in Akwa-Ibom State. PDP is leading.

Election however was bloody in Ibiono Ibom, Nsit Atai, and Uyo in spite of huge presence of security personnel. 5 reportedly killed. There are reports that election did not hold in a couple of units due to ballot snatching etc.

A NYSC member working for INEC brutalized by a security agent in Eket, hospitalized.

Great irregularities marred Akwa Ibom state election.
