Star Quest Unveils Judges

The Trio of Freeze, Paul Play and KC of KC Presh has been chosen to become the judges of this year’s edition of the annual Star Quest talent hunt. The organizer explained that it was a difficult tax picking the judges. A representative of the brand explained that they had to search for credible judges that would do justice to the thousands of talents expected to take part at the event. Rugged man remains the host for the show. They are popular faces, but below is the profiles of the face that will dominate your television sets in weeks to come.

Freeze

Freeze has been a broadcaster for 15 years. He started off with a brief three month stint with Radio galaxia, Romania while on holiday there in 1996. Later that same year when he returned to Nigeria he auditioned for, and got a job with BCOS Ibadan where he worked for 5years. Freeze joined the Cool FM in 2001 as a broadcaster and production officer.

From 2009 he began to host the Road show, Coolfm’s evening Drive Time Show from 4pm to 9pm Every weekday and Praise Jam Coolfm’s Gospel show on Sunday Mornings.

Freeze has had one on one interviews with some of the finest Nigerian and international artistes including Akon, Boyz 2 Men, Angie Stone, Brian McKnight, Sisquo, Joe, SWV, Brick and Lace, Wycleff Jean, Caron Wheeler, Kool and the Gang, Sean Paul, Tuface Idibia, Psquare, Dbanj, and Charlie boy amongst a host of others.

Freeze as a compere, has also hosted a string of Music concerts, Comedy shows and Nollywood premieres in Nigeria, London and Manchester including, British Deputy High Commissions Naija Nite 2009, Basket mouths’ laffs and Jamz and uncensored, Dbanj Entertainer Album Launch, Reloaded Premiere in Lagos, ‘TEE A live and naked live in London 2007’ and Julius Agwu’s ‘crack ya ribs’, London 2009, Basket mouth Lord of the Ribz Manchester February 14th 2011. For 3 consequtive years Freeze hosted the final selection for the Gulder Ultimate Search reality show.

As a TV personality Freeze has hosted numerous game shows and Live television Broadcasts including 3 seasons of ‘CocaCola Mega millions’, Multilinks Telcoms’ ‘Break the bank’ Mlotto mobile lottery andThe John Utaka Premier League challenge amongst many others.

Freeze is married with 2 lovely kids.

Paul Play

He is probably the most creative musician in recent times in the Nigerian music industry. His cocktail of genres ranges from those from the western world R&B and Rap to traditional Highlife music and Juju music. This is responsible for his unmatched uniqueness. Paul started as a producer, songwriter and back up vocalist before hitting the limelight.

Born to a great Nigerian music legend, Late I.K. Dairo, he vowed to keep the dream alive. He moved on to join other groups which include “De Klan”, “Oxygen” and Pure Heart Impression. While with these groups, Paul was doubling as a jingle and soundtrack producer for advertising agencies and film producers not just that, he has also produced and worked with most of the upcoming artistes in Nigerian music scene and big names as well.

He went solo after fears of continuity with his last group to record his first album titled

“Dairo Music Foundation Project” in 1999 featuring hit singles like; “Mosorire” “Happy

Day” and “Yes O!”. The Album remains a timeless classic, popular amongst Nigerians and Africans in Diaspora. The album has sold over two million copies and is still selling till date.

His other albums include; Project II in 2002, Number 1(Released In Uk) 2003, and Hitsville 2005.

Kc OF Kc Presh

The name is Kingsley Okonkwo, aka Kc of Kc Presh hails from Anambara state. One half of Kc Presh, a group well known and very popular in Nigeria and all over the world, won several awards in and out of the country

These two young men came into limelight when they won the much converted star quest prize in 2002.they were rewarded the most promising act 2002, best collaboration 2003, best music comedy video 2004, best akwa cross artist 2006,best south-south artist niger-delta 2006, won best hip hop video in channel o music awards 2008, nominated in cora awards 2009, nominated in Soundcity 2009 and 2010,nominated in hip hop awards in 2008, won the best dressed group in 2008,2009 and 2010, won the ministers of Swaggz in 2010, won the best group in city people awards 2010, nominated for europ awards 2011 in may, to mention but a few. As winners of the of the 2002 star quest, they were offered a 1 year music contract with international record label Kennis Music. Not letting the euphoria of their victory blind their focus, they made the best use of the opportunity to get to the top of their game.

Presenter : Ruggedman

Born Michael Ugochukwu Stephens in Abia State Nigeria. Political Science graduate of Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo.Does his rap with a fussion of my local lingua,so the world will know where he is coming from.

Dropped his first song in 2002 titled “Ehen Pt.1,in which he critisized the so called top musicians in Nigeria then.

That made him enemy to many music top shots. It also shot him into the main stream. It was a tough and tense time but Ruggedman has lived up to everything and is a relevant part of the Nigerian entertainment industry. He revolutionised modern rap music in industry with his bold but risky entry. Now he run his own label in Nigeria “Rugged Records” and a clothing line called 20th Sept Wear. Named after his birthday..

He has performed in almost all the states in Nigeria. Ruggedman has performed alongside international acts like KC n Jojo, Guru, Sean Paul, Wyclef Jean, Akon, Wayne Wonder, Ja Rule, Kevin Little, Maxie Priest, Kanye West, LL.Cool J, T.Pain, Nas, Nelly to name a few. He also performed in London,South Africa and Wales.

Ruggedman single handedly arranged and went on a 7 states tour in Nigeria and UK when his Ruggedy Baba album was released.

Ruggedmans is probably the most featured rapper in Nigeria.

He has featured in over 100 tracks.

His three albums include;.Thy Album Come (2004), Ruggedy Baba (2007)

And Untouchable (2010)

He hosted the prestigious NB Plc sponsored Star Quest Reality Tv Talent Show 2009,2010 and hosting the 2011 edition.
