TRADITIONAL JOURNALISM VS ONLINEJOURNALISM (Their Future)

  1. Vicky Bagobiri
There is no doubt that with the fast growing rate of technology traditional journalism is beginning to loose its effect. However, some forms of traditional journalism have decided to go on the internet
enhancing the readers skill. Online journalism has made transmission, gathering and reporting, miniturisation, control and even convergence possible thus, reducing the hard process people underwent during the traditional period of information gathering..
With all this, traditional journalism will not be wiped out because some of all these papers like Daily Trust, This Day are already going online. So if traditional journalism continues to carry some of the features of online journalism, it will definately live on considering the fact that in developoing nations like Nigeria a number of the population still prefare the traditional way of sitting at home or in the office to read. So we can say that traditional journalism will survive.
On the other hand online journalism in a global village is just the most suitable option. It is increasing the rate of literacy among countries n the habit of internationalization is at a high rate.
With this, we can conclude that traditional journalisn and online journalism are made to compilment each other not for online journalisn to replace tradzitional journalism. With this there will be a tie between people who access information online. And people who access information the traditional way. Helping to improve accessibility to information.
In summary, the future of traditional journalism and online journalism are complimentary.

i think ur on the right track but you must admit that Nigeria and nigerians are late adopters it will take a while before Nigeria has to worry about traditional journalism being fazed out by online journalism.
