Default About Rilwan Lukman, Petroleum Minister's Resignation.

Petroleum Minister, Mr. Rilwan Lukman’s resignation is came on the heels of report of a possible cabinet change by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.

The reason for the resignation of the Petroleum Minister was not immediately known as at press time. But sources said that Lukman’s decision may not be unconnected with his frosty relationship with the Acting President.

Vice President Jonathan had in December 2009 instructed Lukman, minister of state for petroleum resources; Odein Ajumogobia and others to cancel any travel plans for the holiday to enable them find a solution to the lingering fuel crisis rocking the entire country.

But Lukman ignored the directive from the then Vice President and left for Vienna on a British Airways flight from Abuja.

He is said to be one of those die-hard Yar’Adua loyalist who have vowed not to work under the Acting Presidency of Jonathan

Nevertheless,I still think he has a case to answer for not heeding the advise of Nigerian No 1 Man,By the way, this is not about loyalty but Patriotism.Such kind of autonomy ,should not be allowed to thrive.
I expected him as an old Man to behave more respectfully.

I am sure that is not the only reason. Lukman did not want the job in the first place.Three respected Nigerian elders from the South East and one from the North were recruited to bring Lukman on board. He gave conditions that were accepted, before accepting the position. So you see, there is more to it I think.
