Nigeria's former Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Dr. Christopher Kolade, has blamed the country's slow economic growth and leadership failure to inability to identify, train and retain people at the right positions.
Dr. Kolade told business executives in Abuja that Nigeria cannot join the top twenty economies by 2020 unless it builds durable institutions and human resources.
He said that visions and missions are not enough to propel the country to greater heights except the right strategies are put in place to implement and realise them.
Dr. Kolade noted that since the private sector is the major contributor to economic growth, this has not been made easy by the prevailing situations in Nigeria and misplacement of priorities by successive administrations.
The development of a vision for Nigeria's economic growth was a consensus at the gathering but the business executives and experts say that it must be stated in clear terms and ensuring that round pegs are put in the right holes to ensure a success of the vision.
