The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) with the aid of securities at the American embassy, is said to have arrested an unspecified number of Nigerian nationals who allegedly attempted kidnapping an American for a whopping US$2m ransom.

Details are still sketchy surrounding the alleged attempted kidnapping but information available to this paper say that one of the Nigerians have told investigators that they had no intension of harming the American, but that all they were going to ask for was a US$2m ransom.

This paper has also gathered that the US Embassy Wednesday flew the unnamed American out of the country and that the four alleged Nigerian kidnappers are in custody by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)

When contacted Thursday, the American embassy, through its Public Diplomacy Section issued this statement: "...In response to your inquiry, the Public Diplomacy Section of the US Embassy is saying the Embassy has no comments on the matter, and is advising the New Democrat to contact the Liberia National Police (LNP)".

Similarly, when contacted, Police Director Marc Amblah told this paper that he, too, could not comment. "I am sorry, but I can not comment now because the matter is under investigation."
