    Default Iran says it's shutting down Gmail

    On the eve of expected anti-government protests, Iran says it has permanently blocked Google's Gmail, TheWall Street Journal reports.

    Citing a telecommunications official, the Journal writes that the move "was meant to boost local development of Internet technology and to build trust between people and the government."

    It's not yet known whether the move will be successful.

    In May, ahead of the presidential election, Iran blocked access to Facebook and disrupted phone service and Internet communications, including e-mail, Twitter and VoIP.

    This is extremism at all cost,How can shutting down Gmail and Others help technology,People just want to be in power at all cost,Unfortunately in this case the tribe they are trying to shut out have tasted of the power before,it is going to be tough.Sectarianism.

    "He who hides a chicken in his pocket does not shoo another away'.Nigeria would do the same thing if its interests are tempered with. Ask CNN amd ALJAZEERA.

    They actually drifted to this end,we can do well to make sure such disaster does not happen in our country,Be that as it may,it is a sectarian cold war that is going on in Iran,between 3 major factions.
    The 3 major sects fighting over Iran power
    1. Conservatives or Hardliners: Khomeini, Khamenei, Ahmadinejad
    2. Pragmatists: Rafsanjani
    3. Reformists: Khatami

    Iran’s post-Revolutionary period is divided into eras characterized by leadership of one faction or another:

    * 1979-1981: uncertainty as different factions jockeyed for power

    * 1981-1989: era dominated by Khomeini: conservatism

    * 1989-1997: Rafsanjani: pragmatism

    * 1997-2005: Khatami: reformism

    * 2005-2009: Ahmadinejad: conservatism

    That is theirs,Let me face my people Nigeria.

    I was, and still is. of the opinion that you do not have sectarian divide in Iran. The absolute majority is Shi'a muslims, ie members of the Shi'a sect, prevalent in that part of the world. But yes they have ideological differences as you rolled out. The categories of growth bring about the divide: the young, middle aged and the elderly.And Yes they drifted slowly towards this ungainly position though you have to admit one thing. Iran will rise up as one should any foreign threat appear on its horizon. How many can do that?
