A 50 years-old man has been banished from his Bodija village in Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State for allegedly putting his 14-year-old daughter in family way. Yesiru Onojobi allegedly threw decorum in the wind as he forcefully had canal knowledge of his daughter, Kehinde.
The Junior Secondary School I (JSS I) student alleged that her shameless father began to have canal knowledge of her since December, 2009. Result of the incest is the baby girl she delivered on Wednesday.
Kehinde alleged that a dreadful masquerade in their village had threatened to lay curse on the father which made him to flee from the community. The community leaders also decided that since the man committed an abomination, he was henceforth banished from the village.
The community masquerade also warned Kehinde not to breastfeed the baby if they (Kehinde and the baby) must remain alive.
The father, Kehinde and the baby were paraded before journalists by the Deputy Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, on Monday.
The daughter claimed that her father usually defiled her each time her menstrual period was over, adding that he did it four consecutive times. When she appealed to the father to stop because his escapade would result to pregnancy, her advise fell on deaf ears.
When it was obvious that the pregnancy was no longer a secret to the people in the community who usually embarrassed her with questions, the father decided to restrict her movement to their one room apartment.
She claimed that her father was not the person that deflowered her. According to the young mother, a man deflowered her when she was at the age of nine. Then she was living with her mother’s parents house.
The girl disclosed that the day she was deflowered, her relations took her back to the father to complain to him. “My father gave me the beaten of my life. Less than four years after, the same father forced me and had sex with me. Each time I finished my menstruation, my father would force me and did it with me. I warned him that it would result to pregnancy but he did not listen,” Kehinde alleged.
“He warned me not to tell anybody about the pregnancy. One day my late mother’s family came to ask who owns the pregnancy. People in the community later tied his hands and legs with ropes. They took me to the backyard and I told them the whole truth. My father took me to Safeway Hospital. My dad also told me to leave the pregnancy. My father ran away from the village because of the community masquerade. Because he was afraid to swear and receive curse, he ran away,” Kehinde added.
The suspect, Onojobi, allegedly owned up to the offence. Onojobi claimed that he had canal knowledge of the daughter only once. The suspect stressed that he was not the person that deflowered her.
According to the suspect, his daughter usually changed clothes in his presence and gradually he developed erotic interest. The man claimed that his daughter did not shout because it was not her first time to do it.
He added that the young girl enjoyed it after all. “My wife who was their mother died years ago. I’ve been living with Kehinde and her twin brother, Taiye. I sleep on the bed with Kehinde while Taiye slept on the mat. I did it only once with her. Her mother’s family came one day that she had delivered and told me to take care of my baby. I took the baby from them as Kehinde delivered on Wednesday. They held Kehinde back and brought only the baby. Do I have breast to breastfeed her? I wanted to take the baby to the hospital the next day when police accosted me about the baby,” she said.
