Therefore, it is not that languages do not have specific words or phrases to explain objects from other climes, but that they accept the economy to let the world go round. Other peoples concepts, confined to a dictionary, remain what they are: concepts.

The truth remains that no matter how economical you are with a language or concept, your language must have a "root" for every word in its lexicon, such that when it matters as in the case of this question, you dig it up from the roots, not search for the quick fix or economical version.

But if you don't have it in your lexicon, you just don't have it. Simple. Just think of an economical word for KANGAROO which I know we don't have in Nigeria.(What colourful phrase would you employ to describe it?)
