Bauchi State governor Mallam Isa Yuguda has achieved, within a short period of time, what most of his contemporaries have been unable to achieve in office.”
That was part of a citation on the governor read yesterday during an annual lecture and merit award organised by the Press Gallery, an Abuja-based newspaper.
The governor, who was the chairman of the occasion and the chief guest speaker, received the Best Governor of 2011 Award from the Press Gallery.
In a speech extolling the virtues of the governor, publisher and editor-in-chief of Press Gallery, Mr. Isiaka Mustapha, said courtesy of Yuguda Bauchi State has become the reference point in terms of development activities and initiatives.
According to Mustapha, the Yuguda-led administration in Bauchi has revealed a genuine step and efforts aimed at developing the state.
Mustapha disclosed that the board of the Press Gallery came to the decision of selecting Yuguda as the best governor after a three-week-fact finding tour of all the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State.
A member of the editorial board of the Press Gallery, Dr. Chima Chibuike, in his address during the event, pointed out that Yuguda’s achievements within a very short time had given inspiration to youth who see in the governor the virtues of youthfulness.
“If the achievements of the present administration in Bauchi State is anything to go by His Excellency Malam Isa Yuguda has all it takes to be accepted in all the geographical zones of the country. What we applaud are silent achievers, men who make things happen in the midst of not-too-visible natural resources, yet lives are touched and standard of living improved,” he said.
