President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday explained why trading partners have recognised Nigeria as the fourth fastest-growing in the world.

He said he appointed best minds to manage the economy, provided financial support for manufacturers, increased power generation and stabilised banks through the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCOM).

The President said the efforts resulted in an 8.29 per cent growth in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Jonathan posted the claim on the social interactive ‘Facebook’.

The wall post reads: “I appointed the best minds to manage our economy, provided unprecedented funding to manufacturers, increased power generation and stabilised banks via the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON), all of which resulted in an 8.29 per ent GDP growth and recognition from trading partners (most notably in the United Kingdom) that Nigeria is now the world’s fourth fastest-growing economy.”
