England Coach Brian Eastick has said that his team were unlucky to have lost 1-0 to Nigeria in their FIFA U-20 round of 16 clash in Armenia on Wednesday night.

He insisted that they were the better team on the night, going from the number of scoring chances that they had, which they unfortunately failed to convert.

England’s best chance to score fell to Phillips, who struck a stunning shot from outside the penalty area, but Paul produced an equally superb stop.

In his post-match comments, Coach Eastick, while noting that the game was a close affair, said that their performance against Nigeria was their best in the tournament, even though they had nothing to show for it.

“It was a close game and there was not much difference between the two teams. Of the four matches that we played in the competition, this was probably our best match as we had a good performance but we couldn’t score.

We had three or four chances in the second half that should have given us the game, but unfortunately we couldn’t take them. That’s football, if you don’t score you can’t win the game. But if you say who created the best chances, and who was the best side in the game, then it would be England”, added the coach.
