Enyimba’s coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has expressed displeasure at his team ahead of the upcoming 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League after a goalless draw with Rivers United in a tuneup encounter on Tuesday.
While the People's Elephants were held at bay for the most of the first half, they were wasteful after the interval and their manager, who joined from Sunshine Stars in the close season, was dissatisfied in his side.
The 53-year-old stated that despite the league starting this weekend, his team is still in its ‘making’.
“I am still not completely satisfied (with the state of my team) but it is still a team in the making,” Ogunbote told Rivers’ official website.
“We should have scored some goals in the game and we need to work on correcting those mistakes.
“Even if we had won (against Rivers United), we still would have had a few things that we need to perfect,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Rivers United boss, Stanley Eguma insisted on correcting their mistakes, particularly their arrays of missed goalscoring chances in the opening period.
“It was a good game and Enyimba played well,” Eguma said.
“We had scoring chances but failed to convert them and that is something that we really need to work on.
“All the same, that is why these sort of matches are played; to help us identify and correct mistakes.”
Enyimba and Rivers kick off their NPFL campaigns with home games against Sunshine Stars and El Kanemi Warriors respectively, on January 15.
