National coach designate, Samson Siasia has revealed why he demanded for a $1m (about N150m) sign-on fee 100, 000 dollars (about N15m) monthly pay before he could take the job of coaching the Eagles.

Siasia and the Nigeria Football Association failed to reach an agreement last weekend. But his lawyer, Austin Ijere disclosed yesterday that Siasia and the NFA looks good to reach an agreement on Tuesday, when they meet again.

He said that his client demanded to be paid the said amount, because he needed the money to pay the retinue of foreign assistants that he would need for the job.

"He asked for this sum because he plans to hire some European coaches to assist him in this assignment. He hired a goalkeeper coach and a trainer from Europe when he handled the Flying Eagles at the 2009 U- 20 World Cup," said Austin.

He said that the former Flying Eagles coach has however, backed down from his high demand.

"We have discussed and he has agreed to lower his demands.

This we hope to convince the NFA when we meet again on Tuesday. Although I won't be able to give you details now until we finish our discussions.

"We also believe this contract will be improved on after he has impressed on the job."

Observers however, want the incoming FA to employ their own coach.
