The appointment of Samson Siasia as the new Nigeria coach will not be made public again this week so as not to distract Austin Eguavoen ahead of Saturday's Nations Cup qualifier against Madagascar.
The newly elected board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are expected to have their inaugural meeting in Abuja on Wednesday and top on the agenda will obviously be the engagement of a substantive coach for the national team.
Top officials have said that the board plans to consult the hand-over notes of the immediate past board as it concerns their discussions with Siasia.
However, a final decision and presentation will have to wait till after Saturday's clash against Madagascar.
"Siasia should still get the nod to take over the Eagles on a permanent basis, but a public announcement will now most likely have to wait till after the Madagascar match so as to avoid any distractions," the top NFF official said.
Siasia was expected to have finalised his personal terms with the NFF board on his return from a CAF Champions League match against Ismaily in Egypt about a fortnight ago.
However, this did not happen as the entire board were very much preoccupied with the NFF elections, which were finally conducted on Thursday.
Siasia has been proposed a four-year contract and former technical committee chairman, Dominic Iorfa, would go on to announce that he and the former international striker had agreed a monthly salary of $50,000 without the coach picking up any sign-on fee.
Iorfa though was quick to add that this discussion would still need the approval of the board.
