A volatile debate on Super Eagles' home game against Ethiopia in next month's Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia looms at the level of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

Sunday Tribunesports gathered from a top member of the NFF that the issues about the weather condition, as it affects the Super Eagles, will determine the choice of venue for the crucial game.

Some players of the Super Eagles who were involved in the international friendly against Sierra Leone complained about the astro turf at the Lagos Teslimi Balogun Stadium and it is being speculated that the game against Ethiopia may have to be decided in the natural grass of Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

However, the board member fears Nigeria could be playing away from home if the wrong choice of venue was made.

''The weather in Kaduna will be harsh on Nigerian players based in Europe and favour the Ethiopians. There are procedures to follow before we can pick the match venue for the Eagles.Neither the coach nor the players have the authority to dictate where the match will be played, the Executive Committee of the NFF will decide,'' he said.

He added that the NFF will learn from their past mistakes.

''Nigeria has to make maximum use of home advantage. We have to consider the climatic, security and political situation of the choice we make, and that is what we are going to brainstorm on.''

He added that nowhere in the world does an FA surrender the duty of naming a home-game venue to coaches and players. ''Of course, the coaches can have a preference, but they have to convince the NFF.''

Coach Samson Siasia and some players of the Super Eagles were quoted to have raised objection to playing in Lagos as a result of the astro turf surface of the Balogun Stadium.

However, NFF's Executive Committee member, Barrister Green maintained sealed lips, asking that the final word be awaited from the Federation's Executive Committee.
