The former presidential aspirant, Chief Olu Falae has described the January date set by the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] for the commencement of the 2011 general elections as unrealistic.

Speaking at a news conference with journalists in Abuja, Chief Falae said the registration of over seventy million Nigerians in less than two weeks is unachievable.

He suggested that an Interim Government be put in place to conduct the general elections should INEC fail in meeting up with the date for the 2011 general elections.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the social democratic mega party, Professor Pat Utomi put off the idea of a merger with other political parties until after 2011 elections.

The former presidential aspirant said he saw the need to buttress this point following numerous reports in the media that the party is looking at the possibility of merging with other parties.

Pat Utomi on his part has said the timetable released by INEC is too short, adding that the period for political parties to conclude their primaries should have been extended to October 2010.
