Following the release of INECs time-table for the 2011 elections, the National Executive Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved guidelines for the conduct of primaries to elect candidates for various offices under the partys platform.

The party arrived at the decisions at a meeting of its National Executive Committee [NEC] held in Abuja, the nations Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday.

A statement from the PDP National Publicity Secretary Professor Rufai Alkali, outlining the guidelines, also includes the dates for the primaries and related activities.

The state Assembly primaries will hold on October 2, 2010, governorship primary elections are scheduled for between October 6 and 8 2010, followed by the National Assembly primaries on October 12 and 14 2010.
The presidential primaries will hold from October 18 to October 20, 2010.


The guidelines also make provision for screening of aspirants, screening appeals, run-off elections and electoral appeals.
The PDP National Executive Committee also approved fees to be paid by aspirants for expression of interest and nomination forms.

The presidential aspirants are to pay 1 million Naira for expression of interest and 10 million Naira for the nomination form.

Governorship aspirants expression of interest attracts a fee of 500,000 Naira while nomination forms cost 5 million Naira.

Senatorial expression of interest will attract 200,000 naira while the forms cost 2 million Naira.
For the House of Representatives expression of interest attract a 100,000 Naira fee, and one million Naira for the nomination forms.

State house assembly expression of interest also cost 100,000 Naira while nomination forms attract 500,000 fees.
