The Nigerian governors forum has condemned the passage of the amendment of the 2010 electoral act by the House of Representatives.

Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the chairman of the governors forum and governor of Kwara state, Dr. Bukola Saraki said that the act had received criticisms from the Nigerian populace and that should have been enough to drop the amendment.

The controversial section of the act seeks to make members of the national assembly automatic members of the National Executive Committee of their various political parties.

The governors called on the senate to show maturity and not toe the line of the House of Representatives by not passing it.
