PDP approves three candidates for primary

Nigeria's ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) has cleared President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and veteran politician Sarah Jibril to contest its primaries on Thursday.

"We screened three presidential aspirants of our party. We have cleared all of them to participate as contestants in the presidential primaries," Aminu Wali, head of the party's screening panel, told reporters.
