Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has been declared winner of the PDP Delta North Senatorial Primary which was held in Asaba, the Delta state capital.

The former SSG of Delta state won the re-run election after he pulled a total of 1,446 votes to defeat his challenger Mrs. Mary-Ann Ali who polled a total of 108 votes. However, 34 votes were declared void.

The commencement of the exercise witnessed a brief disruption when the delta state chairman of the PDP, Mr. Peter Nwabaoshi appeared at the scene of the event.

A fracas ensued among the supporters as they threw tables, chairs and other objects at each other on sighting Mr. Nwabaoshi at the venue.

However, calm returned at the venue and voting by delegates resumed amid tight security which saw the emergence of Dr. Okowa as the party's candidate for the Delta North Senatorial election.
