The police have arrested the Kano State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Faruk Iya, in connection with the snatching of electoral materials meant for the conduct of the re-run of the gubernatorial primary in the state.
The State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Muhammad Tambari Yabo, who confirmed the incidence in a telephone chat, disclosed that the PDP Chairman, and the party's Organizing Secretary, as well one Mr. Lawrence, said to have come from the PDP National Headquarters in respect of the re-run primary, were arrested and interrogated over their role in the missing election documents.
Our Correspondent in Kano reports that some persons suspected to be thugs had attacked and snatched the election materials from the PDP Chieftains, while they were driving to an unknown destination.
The police Commissioner explained that during the interrogation, the Kano PDP Chairman admitted recognizing some of the thugs who attacked them.
The three PDP chieftains have since been released even as investigations into the matter continue.
