National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, has said the PDP is aware of the plans by the officials of the Department of State Service to scuttle the Akwa Ibom 2015 governorship election won by Mr. Udom Emmanuel of the PDP.

Speaking with journalists at Akwa Ibom International Airport, Okobo, on Tuesday, Secondus said the DSS had asked some of its officials to testify against the victory of Emmanuel at the Akwa Ibom Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja.

He stated that the PDP National Working Committee was in the state in solidarity with the people, following the invasion of the Akwa Ibom State Government House by officials of the DSS.

According to him, there was nowhere in the world – in a democratic setting – that a security arm of government would invade a Government House.

Secondus compared the invasion of the Akwa Ibom Government House to a political coup by the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government.

He, however, expressed confidence in the jadiciary.

“The plan by the DSS to forcefully ask some members of the agency to appear at the tribunal does not bother us. We trust that the Nigerian judiciary will do the right thing. The judiciary is not partisan. They won’t listen to all those gossips.

“What happened in Akwa Ibom is the equivalence of a political coup by the APC. What are they looking for in the Government House? Why can’t they go to the Government House controlled by the APC?,” he asked.
