    Default APGA adopts Jonathan

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) yesterday adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate.

It was at its National Convention held at the Women Development Centre, Awka.

Also, the party renewed the tenure of the reconstituted National Working Committee for another four years.

The motion for the adoption of the President and his deputy, Namadi Sambo was moved by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Emeka Sibeudu and supported by the National Vice Chairman of the Southwest, Alhaji Toumi Shoumi and the National Secretary, Alhaji Sanni Shinkafi.

The party’s National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh said the decision to adopt Jonathan was taken after consultations among stakeholders. He said the party took into consideration the fact that he was doing well, carrying all parts of the state along in his efforts to build a new Nigeria. He thanked party chieftains for the confidence reposed in them to continue to serve. He described APGA as a formidable party that will continue to grow from strength to strength.

At the event, Obi said APGA was committed to enthroning a leadership that will use the resources of the state for the good of the people.

Also yesterday, the wife of former Biafra warlord, Bianca Ojukwu spoke on the state of health of her husband Dim Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who is receiving treatment in a London hospital.

She said through the mercy of God, Dim Ojukwu is still alive.

Mrs Ojukwu said 12 of the 13 patients who were treated with her husband at the internsive care unit of the Enugu Teaching Hospital and a London hospital had died.

Mrs. Ojukwu said: "I attribute all these things to the collective prayers of all the members of APGA and indeed Nigerians and we hope in no distant time, he will come back to the people he loves dearly."
