In an attempt to protect the lives of students and children in Niger state, the State government has banned all political rallies from holding in schools across the state.

The governor of Niger state, Dr Muazu Aliyu while receiving members of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] in the state on a courtesy visit, lamented the death of one student and eleven others wounded in the explosion that rock the PDP senatorial rally in Suleja.

He noted that since holding political rallies in school may jeopardize the lives of the innocent students who may wish to attend the rally, the state government has considered it wise not to expose the nations future leaders to acts of terror.

Dr Aliyu also noted that contrary to speculation, he was not the target of the perpetrators of the Suleja explosion but his teeming supporters who had come to support the ruling PDP in the state.

While appealing to security agencies in the state to bring the culprits of the explosion to book, Governor Aliyu also asked PDP supporters not to be discouraged, as the aim of the bombers was to scare them away from attending other PDP rallies.
