A federal high court sitting in Abuja has dismissed the suit filed by Senator Grace Bent seeking an order of the court to be recognized as the senatorial candidate for Adamawa South Senatorial district.
In his judgment, Justice Abdullahi Kafarati threw out the suit on the s that it lacked merit, having failed to show any documentary evidence that the PDP primary election which produced Alhaji Ahmed Barata as the candidate of the party was cancelled.
The court held that contrary to Senator Bents claim, the Peoples Democratic Party never ordered a re-run election which was allegedly won by her; neither did she show any evidence that the January 9 primary election contravened any guideline of the Peoples Democratic Party or of the electoral act.
Justice Kafarati therefore affirmed the election of Alhaji Ahmed Barata as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Adamawa South Senatorial district.
In a similar suit, Justice Kafarati also affirmed the election of Alhaji Bindo Jibrilla as the Peoples Democratic Candidate for Adamawa North Senatorial district.
