President Goodluck Jonathan has challenged Nigerians on the need to be vigilant and report suspicious characters in their areas to appropriate security agencies.
The President vowed to do all that is necessary to ensure the provision of adequate security in the country.
The President stated this while inaugurating two committees at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The committees are those of the presidential awareness on security and civic responsibility headed by Alhaji Lateef Adegbite, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic affairs, and presidential committee on the review of the reform processes in the Nigerian Public Service, headed by Mallam Adamu Waziri Fika.
The Presidential Awareness Committee on Security and Civic Responsibility according to the president was encouraged by the recent disturbing scenario in the nation.
He also added that security and stability are essential ingredients for a virile democracy.
