The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) candidate for the Lagos Island Federal constituency, Yemisi Coker, has withdrawn from Saturday’s parliamentary election.
Ms Coker withdrew from the election, citing “certain factors.” She had renewed her allegiance with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) from where she defected to ANPP.
The development may not be unconnected with former Governor Bola Tinubu’s public appeal made at the ACN’s Lagos Island rally that Ms Coker should return to the fold where she belongs. “She is my cousin, I will personally go to her house to beg her,” he had said. “Please, help me beg her to come back because she has been a faithful party member.”
