The Action Congress Of Nigeria (ACN), has said that it is worried about the safety of its Akwa-Ibom state governorship candidate, Senator John Akpanudoedehe.

The ACN in statement alleged that the senator was flown, unaccompanied by one of his aides, in a helicopter to Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom state capital on Monday.

The party also alleges that some of its supporters arrested after the violence in the state may have died.

Part of the statement reads, "three of the 41 ACN supporters who were arrested and slammed into detention were reported to have died. How can we then not be worried by the safety of our governorship candidate under the circumstances? End of quote.

The ACN is also asking the Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, to respect the law in handling the issue.

Prior to this time, the wife of the embattled governorship candidate, Mrs. Justin Akpanudoedehe, raised an alarm over her inability to locate her husband, Senator John Akpanudoedeghe, at his detention cell at the police headquarters in Abuja, alleging that some persons want him dead before the impending governorship elections in the state on April 26.

Mrs Udoedeghe who raised this alarm in Abuja pleaded with President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in the matter by ordering an immediate release of her husband for the sake of her kids.

She equally implored well meaning Nigerians, women and civil society organizations both within and outside the country to come to her rescue with a view to determining the whereabouts of her husband who she last saw on Sunday.

One of the lawyers representing Senator Udoedeghe, Chief Niyi Akintola collaborated her story, adding that he was yet to be informed about where the acn candidate is currently being held adding that the defence team is working on legal processes that they intend to file in court soon.

Another lawyer in Senator Udoedehe's legal team, Mr Frank Okon however disclosed to Channels Television on phone that the embattled governorship candidate has been flown to Uyo, Akwa Ibom on the orders of the police high command.

Meanwhile, A chief magistrate court in Abuja has fixed April 8, 2011 for ruling on the bail application filed on behalf of one of the lawyers of Senator John Akpanudoedehe who is the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Francis Affanga.

The court presided over by magistrate Oyewumi Oyebola fixed the date after the lawyer to Mr Francis Affanga applied formally for his bail application having filed it a day before.

The attempt to argue the bail application was vehemently opposed by the prosecutor, Mr Charles Osagie who told the court that he needed forty-eight hours to respond to the motion for bail.

Mr Francis Affanga is standing trial for an alleged inflammatory statements made on a live television programme in Lagos wherein he was said to have accused the presidency of being responsible for the unending crisis political in Akwa Ibom State.
