The Borno state chapter of People's Democratic Party (PDP) says it will challenge the victory of the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) in the governorship election at the tribunal.
The Director General of the PDP governorship campaign organization in the state, Mohammed Kumalia, said the party will challenge the outcome of the election which was marked by massive acts of rigging, intimidation, harassment and assault.
The Director General, who led a top delegation of prominent members to the event, said the party will also challenge the result of some House of Assembly elections.
According to Kumalia, "it is a well known fact that the Borno ANPP robbed, killed, maimed, raped and terrorized the Borno people to steal the governorship election of Tuesday 26th April, 2011.
"However, the emerging details of how these acts were perpetrated exposes the desperation, wickedness and to some extent foolishness of the ANPP in the state," he said.
He said the victory of the ANPP came at a heavy casualty to the people adding, "the Borno ANPP also murdered a number of people in the process of stealing our mandate. They are citizens, voters, party agents carrying out their legitimate civic rights when ANPP mercenaries cut short their lives. Apart from those that died right at the spot where they were attacked, some died few days later as a result of injuries sustained. One of such victims was a gentleman that was stabbed on election day and died at a private hospital in Maiduguri."
