The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal; Justice Constance Momoh has threatened to order for the arrest of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), if he fails to appear before the Tribunal on 20th November, 2009 to take his plea on the charges brought against him by the Attorney General of the Federation.

The former anti corruption agency head has been having a runing battle with the Attorney General over the travails of former Governors, especially James Onanafe Ibori; the former Delta state Governor and his trial before the code of conduct tribunal is believed to be politically motivated.

Ribadu is standing trial for allegedly failing to return his Asset Declaration Form to the Code of Conduct Bureau after he was eased out of office by the Yar'Adua Government.

His counsel; Chief Femi Falana, had put up spirited attempts to wade off the trial. He had challenged the competence of the Tribunal to try the former EFCC boss but to no avail. He maintained that if the Tribunal will gurantee his safety, that Ribadu will come forth as he has not committed any crime whatsoever.

It would be recalled that attempts had been made on Ribadu's life before he escaped abroad.
