The Federal Executive Council [FEC] has terminated the awards of contracts based on the 2010 budget effective from Wednesday.

It has also directed all ministries, parastatal and agencies to forward progressive reports attained so far to the council.

Briefing journalists after FEC meeting, the Minister of Information and Communication, Mr. Labaran Maku said that the measures are to allow members to treat policy issues and work progresses and structuring for national development.

Mr. Labaran also explained that the move is also geared towards monitoring performances of sectors in which the government sunk a lot of resources in the last financial year.

However, the council awarded over N33.3 billion contracts out of the 2010 budget.

They included budgets on the completion of the Hadejia irrigation scheme, the Federal Capital Territory solid wastes projects and Mbora district infra structural developments scheme.
