Samsung fans have been waiting for quite a while for the company to release the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update for their flagship devices. Samsung itself has said the update would come this month, but now we may have a much more precise date for that roll out.

According to a Turkish Samsung PR representative, the Android 7.0 Nougat rollout will start on January 17th for those with Galaxy S7 edge devices, model G935F. Thatís the European model version. Unfortunately, thereís no further info on other devices right now.

Though somewhat dubiously sourced, this information is still quite credible, mainly due to Samsungís own timetable. The company is in fact already rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update but only in a very limited capacity, testing out both its infrastructure and the way the devices handle the update. Itís expected the company will continue to push the update to larger and larger pools of users if everything goes according to plan as the month goes on.

Also of note is that the Turkish PR rep mentions in his e-mail that the update released by the company will be Android 7.0 and not the most recent 7.1.1 version that was rumored earlier. This may disappoint users, but it is corroborated by Samsungís current limited roll out.

As of today, only 0.2% of Android devices are using the latest operating system version, while 0.5% of devices are on 7.0 Nougat.
