Ondo State Police Command has arrested three persons for orchestrating the kidnap of an expatriate; Mehmet Emin Erturk and a Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) lecturer, Dr. Tunji Akinlabi and three other persons.
The suspects undergoing questioning by the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the state police command are said to be in their mid twenties.
The suspects have confessed to kidnapping four persons within the last five months and were arrested by the command's detectives in Effurun, Delta state.
They also confessed to collecting the expatriate’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and milking it dry when efforts to collect a ransom yielded no fruits at all.
On the university don's case, Police Commissioner of Ondo state, Sani Mogaji, decried the inability of the family to carry the police along when it came to the issue of ransom.
He lamented the fact that money was paid to secure the release of the lecturer. The other kidnapped persons identities were not disclosed but the Commissioner said the suspects will be paraded on Friday.
The suspects were said to have demanded the sum of N15m for the release of the lecturer.
