Law enforcement agents in Asaba, Delta State, have arrested 14 armed robbery suspects, including a fake soldier who have been terrorizing Asaba and it environs.
Besides, the police command in the state also disclosed that it killed three armed robbery suspects in separate gun battles.
Police spokesman in the state, ASP, Charles Muka told newsmen in Asaba that the suspects were involved in various armed robbery cased within and across the state.
ASP Muka said that the fake soldier man claimed to be serving at the 20 Battalion of the Nigerian Army at Serti-Baruwa in Taraba.
According to him, the fake soldier was nabbed while three others now at large were said to have been involved in a robbery incident at Fan Milk Company, Asaba where N515, 000 was removed.
LEADERSHIP SUNDAY gathered that the soldier man was arrested at the bank of the River Niger where his colleagues abandoned him and jumped into the river as the police closed in on them.
10 AK 47 and one G3 rifle, two locally made guns with 8.56 rounds of ammunition, 18 seater Nissan bus and a V- boot Mercedes Benz car were recovered from the suspects.
Eight of the AK 47 rifles were recovered at a police check point along Patani-Ugheli Road in a BMW car occupied by one Emomo Fime Bossuo from Bayelsa.
Also recovered were over N273,000 cash, some mobile telephones, pictures and some documents.
The police spokesman said that since January to date, police have recorded a huge success in the arrest of criminals and many unscrupulous persons.
LEADERSHIP SUNDAY investigation revealed that many of the "under world men" allegedly shifted their operational base from Onitsha, Anambra State to Asaba and its environs when Governor Peter Obi launched a total war on them including their hide outs.

At it were, residents of Asaba and its environs had slept with one eye opened when the increasing rate of robbery suspects took over the area.
However, those who suffered the fate of incessant robbery incidents in the past can now have a sigh of relief as it's no longer business as usual for the criminals.
Virtually all the nooks and crannies of Asaba are with police men armed to keep surveillance of the areas.
"We are ready for the criminals for them to pack their loads and leave Asaba or face the wrath of the police" the police spokes man added. The 14 suspects including the fake soldier man are to be charged to court soon after investigations are completed.
