The Seme border Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested one Chidebe Nwoye a 30 year old suspected drug trafficker at the Seme border with 1.6kg of raw cocaine.
Parading the suspect before pressmen, the NDLEA Commandant in charge of Seme border, Mr Nicholas Ajaduruonye said that the suspect has made useful statement adding that investigation into matter has commenced.
The suspect who was arrested on borad a Ghana bound Chisco Luxury bus with registration number had neatly packed and concealed the illicit drug in 77 wraps in polythene bag.
He warned operators of luxurious buses to be wary of the kind of passengers that board their vehicles adding that as the agency will keep arresting buses found to be involved in the carriage of such illicit drugs.
His words " We are appealing to Nigerian to embrace the move by Government to re brand the country and desist from activities that paint the nation blacl.
"All hands should be on deck for a total clean up of the system for the good of the country and NDLEA also appeals to luxury bus operators to do a proper documentation of the bags and baggage of their passenger to easy identification of their owners".
The suspect who told newsmen that he got involved in the illicit trade with a view to raising money for his wedding .
He also disclosed that the street value of the volume of drug in his possession was about N2.5million.
The laws stipulates that any body found in the possession of any narcotics risks a minimum jail term of 15 years and maximum of 25 years, while anyone caught in trafficking any of such substance risks a life sentence.
