The police in the northern Nigerian State of Kano have unravelled the mystery surrounding the brutal murder of a State Security Service (SSS) official, his wife, and three of his kids in the early hours of last Monday.
The State of Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Gana, told reporters at an emergency press conference at the Bompai Headquarters of the Command yesterday, that the 23-year old son of the deceased, Bello Garba Bello confessed to have killed his father, mother and three others.
Baba Bello Garba Bello who is an undergraduate of the Kano State University of Science and Technology, told newsmen in Kano that he killed his father and four other members of his families in order to save the family the agony the likely death of their father would cause them.
Bello said the health of his late father was deteriorating by the day to the point of death, a situation he described as unbearable.
He also said his inability to secure a gainful job and the debilitating economic situation of his family compelled him to commit the heinous crime, saying that he did it out of frustration.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police Mohammed Gana who cross examined the 23-year old killer before journalists, described the incidence as unfortunate, saying that it was a clear case of patricide.
In another development, the police arrested 12 suspected kidnappers and 25 drug peddlers after a raid in different parts of the ancient commercial city of Kano.
