A woman group under the aegis of Udoamaka Women Society has warned the kidnappers who abducted 15 pupils of Abayi International School , Aba in Abia State on Monday that they would protest half nude and pray against them if they fail to release the children.
Speaking on the kidnap saga, the National Chairman of the group, Mrs. Ngozi Ezediali said the gunmen, who kidnapped the school children had committed the worst crime against God and humanity, adding that they should have taken the ages and health of the children they abducted into consideration.
She said “we the women have looked at the security of this country especially as it concerns the South-east of the country and have drawn the conclusion that government should do everything humanly possible to make sure that the security of the citizenry is guaranteed.”
“The one we will no longer tolerate is the recent kidnap of our innocent children by these hoodlums and upon that, have the audacity to increase their ransom from N20 million to N40 million. They are suppose to look at it very well if not for anything, look at the ages and health condition of those innocent pupils and release them,” she said.
Mrs. Ezediali stressed that the Nigeria police should be equipped to be able to combat the recent upsurge of crime in the country especially kidnapping, noting that the people of the South-east have been going through hell in the hands of the kidnappers and other criminal elements in the country. “Our concern mostly is on the side of the Nigeria police because I strongly believe that if they are better equispped to confront the security challenges of this country, the issue of rampant kidnapping in the country would be a thing of the past.”
“Another thing is that those kidnappers do not have human faces because, their worst crime since they started kidnapping is the recent abduction of the 15 pupils who have not known anything and have not offended anyone.” “We are giving them today and tomorrow to release the children because if they fail to do so, we would be left with no other option than to pray half nude and pour out our hearts to God to punish them.
We are not praying for them to die because they are also our children as women but they should turn a new leaf and release these children before Friday,” the women warned. Also speaking during the press briefing, the Secretary of the women society, Mrs. Ruth Obi condemned the action of the kidnappers, describing them as callous and heartless people and called on them to quickly release the kidnapped pupils.
