The Kano NDLEA Command also convicted 130 out of the 556 suspects arrested for various drug offences between January and October, 2010, while about 584 drug addicts were rehabilitated by the command.
The Kano NDLEA Commander Barr. HarunaKwetishe in a chat with newsmen in Kano, appealed to members of the public to collaborate with the drug-fighting agency to rid the state of illicit drugs.

Since the beginning of the 2010, there has been a renewed commitment by the Kano Command of the NDLEA in the battle against drug trafficking and consumption here in this northern Nigerian State.
After ten months of ferocious clampdown on drug peddlers, a combined total of 2,665 kilogrammes of psychotropic substances suspected to be cocaine, heroin and Indian Hemp valued at over 133 million naira were impounded by the command.
Kwetishe sounded a note of warning to drug peddlers to desist from their nefarious activities or relocate from kano State as his command would continue to wage what he called a ferocious warfare on drug pushers and consumers.
Out of the 586 suspects arrested, 130 have been convicted and sentenced to various jail terms, while 584 persons, including those brought by their parents have been rehabilitated by the agency.
